Stone Kitchen Island
When you walk into my front door and walk up the stairs this Kitchen Island is one of the first things you see. I always wanted it to have something that would give it more of a pop and appealing look. I saw this stone at Home Depot and fell in love with it. Although it is different shades of grey it also has a blue undertone and being that grey and blue are both some of my favorite colors, it was the perfect choice. The interlocking stone is a bit heavy so I had to screw in concrete backer board first in order for it to hold up on the wall. I mixed thin-set mortar, cut the stone to size and puzzle pieced them together. I made some mistakes on this project for sure as it was one of my very first that I decided to take on but I had fun at the end of the day. I am still happy with the outcome and love the appeal it now gives when I walk into the living space of my home.
