Front Door Entryway
This is the Entryway to my home. This took a pretty long time to get done considering it was during my lawn care season so I was not able to commit myself to it full time like I can in the winter time. I did a little here and there and just when I had the extra time. This entry used to be so dark with the wooden door, dark slate stone tile, orange walls and black trim. I wanted the space to feel bright and open. I went with this door that I purchased from The Home Depot. The gorgeous glass window with its design allows a gorgeous amount of light to shine through during the day time. I tore up the slate tile which was quite difficult considering it was bonded down by concrete and wire mesh. I had to raise the floor to allow the new tiles to be flush with the top step of the lower staircase. I screwed down 1/4 inch plywood. I mortared down the Schluter®-DITRA Uncoupling Membrane. I chose this over concrete backer board. I chose Ceramic “Wood Look” Tile as the border which I purchased from Lowe’s. I mitered the corners on my Diamond Back Wet Saw to give a clean professional and look. I found this gorgeous Hexagon Tile which I had been eyeing for months and always wanted somewhere in my home. There is something about Hexagons that I find so appealing. The variations in colors and undertones sealed the deal in choosing this tile as the inner center focal point of my desired floor design. I finished it off with grout and white trim. It makes me smile every time I see this entryway knowing all the work I put into creating what I envisioned. The freshness and brightness of this space makes it feel like home for me.
